Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

How do your photography sessions work?

Preparation and getting to know one another is important and makes the session on the day go much smoother and enjoyable - its about being yourself on the day. I am more than happy to talk, or meet over Zoom or similar software, to discuss what is important to you and I will answer any questions you may have. I also have additional information in this FAQ, such as what to wear, best time of day to shoot etc. On the day, all I want to capture is the natural feelings, the mood, the emotions, the calm and the crazy moments and all the details that make you unique. That's why I decided to photograph non-traditional posing techniques which provide a much better natural photo with natural expression and feelings.

What locations can we choose from?

Perth and Western Australia is blessed with some of the most beautiful coastline and natural areas with fantastic weather conditions of anywhere in the world. There is also an abundance of fantastic parks and urban landscapes to choose form. I have a variety of favourite locations, alternatively, if you have a favourite, we can choose yours!

What time of day is best?

The best time of day is the first or last hours or so of daylight. The sun is softest at these times casting beautiful light, shadows and colour. This is not to say we cannot shoot at any time of day, but be mindful to select locations which ensure we have filtered light to combat the stronger sunlight outside of these times. We can make any time of day work!

How can we prepare on the day?

In addition to the information below 'What should we wear?', it is always advisable to prepare for a photography session, and by this I mean - just be you, relax and enjoy the session. For example, in our family sessions, it is always advisable to ensure infants and kids are well slept and nourished. Kids, unlike adults, simply don't have the same ability to enjoy themselves and get through a session if they are tired, hungry or thirsty. A bath or shower prior will also help relax them so they can enjoy themselves. After all, we want to capture you all in a natural and fun way! Of course, with kids, bring along drink, food, treats, nappies and so on - just in case, they can be lifesavers!

What should we wear?

The main important factor is you feel comfortable. What tends to look best is where clothing is coordinated, particularly for family photoshoots. The 'theme' is what identify's you as family - being as one or together. Coordinated light or white tops or light coloured dresses and denim jeans is an timeless classic. Also consider location - if we shoot at a beach location, dress for the occasion e.g. don't wear closed in shoes, rather wear sandals, open shoes, sliders - as we often shoot without shoes when on a beach.
Heavily patterned, dark or big prints on shirts does not work for natural outdoor shoots.

Where are you based and do you travel?

I'm based in Perth, Western Australia, and yes, I love to travel! If you want me to photograph your story I am absolutely there! My packages are based on a radius of 25km from Joondalup. Outside of this may require a travel fee and associated costs. Feel free to contact me and I will provide the information and costs.

When will we get our photos?

For family photoshoots, you will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within a maximum 2 weeks (sometimes less depending on the season I photograph your story). You will be able to download the final photos from the gallery, but also share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints and other fantastic products!
Larger shoots e.g. events, require significantly more work, therefore your images will generally be available within 3-4 weeks.

How many pictures will we be able to choose from?

I do not state the number of images as there are many variables which affect how many images a photographer may make available. My focus is on quality, not quantity - images you will print, put on your wall or go back to time and again. You will be provided with lots of quality images to choose from - often my clients find this part the hardest in trying to choose! :-)

How many people can be in a family photoshoot?

I do like to limit the number of people in a photoshoot to ensure adequate time and quality of images.
My 'Kiddies' and 'Generations' packages allow a maximum of 5 family members. My 'Family Tree' package allows up to 10 family/extended family members.
Additional people may be added for $30 per person but we do have to limit the number as it can become waaaay to much :-) .

Say hello.
